No! While we are BOB jogger fanatics, just about any stroller will do so long as it's not prone to tipping. We don't recommend umbrella strollers since they are not very maneuverable and are usually not the appropriate height for walking with good posture. Our mommies have mastered classes with snap-n-go's and other travel systems!
Other than you, your little one, and your stroller...please bring a mat or towel for ground exercises and plenty of water! For outdoor classes you will want to remember hats, sunblock, and appropriate clothing layers for you and baby. Don't forget to pack toys/snacks for the little ones as needed!
Our first priority during Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre classes is the happiness of your baby. Tend to your baby when you need to and then join us again. Don't ever worry that the crying will bother anyone else - it won't! We've all been there! Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for both you and your baby!
We welcome babies from 6 weeks and up in Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre - and that is really more for moms benefit. We want to make sure that mom has had plenty of time to recover after labor and delivery. As soon as your doctor gives you the ok to exercise again - usually at your 6 week post-partum visit - you are welcome to attend class. (Note: For Body Back, we recommend that you be at least 3 months post-partum)
Absolutely! Our classes are designed for all different levels of fitness. We offer modifications and challenges for everything, so you just worry about doing what feels right for you. We’ve got moms who have been coming for years, and moms who are working out for the first time in their life. FIT4MOM is a non-competitive, non-judgmental, safe place for all.
No way! Classes incorporate intervals of power walking (or jogging if you prefer) with strength, endurance and toning exercises. In one hour you will get a complete head to toe workout that will have you feeling energized and strong! Classes are designed for ALL different fitness levels and are taught by certified instructors who are also moms. During our stations, we use resistance bands, open areas for drills or obstacles, benches or steps and anything in the environment to give you a great workout! We always offer appropriate modifications for our pregnant and newly post-partum moms, as well as challenges for the days you want to kick it up a notch. Ultimately, you can choose your own intensity level and we always encourage you to listen to your body.
Yes! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise through their pregnancy as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and Fit4Baby are all excellent options. Instructors are trained in both pre and post natal fitness and follow the ACOG guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses an issue as you progress through your pregnancy. We do require your doctor's approval prior to beginning. All stroller age children are welcome to attend class! We’ve had children 5 and up attend. As long as they fit safely in a seat in your stroller, you are good to go. All children must have a seat in a stroller to attend class.
It is our goal to make sure that you still get your workout in even when the weather is bad. Our Dilworth Location currently has an indoor space that we use in the event of rain or cold weather. Our Waxhaw and South Charlotte location will also have indoor locations in the near future.
